It seems like I’m always at the doctor. With three children, 6 and under, there’s always some reason to be there. Whether it’s a cold, a rash, a scrape, or a vaccination… I know the staff at our pediatrician quite well.
But what about me?
As often as I’m at the doctor, you’d think that I wouldn’t have any problem getting visits in for myself as well… right?
The truth is, I’m much more likely to skip a visit when I need one, because I simply don’t have the time. Nor the desire to pack up all of the children and load them in the car, only to have to wear myself out dealing with them at the doctor’s office as well. Even when a sitter is an option, that still doesn’t take away from the rush of carting them between extracurricular activities, getting homework done, and still getting dinner on the table. I just don’t have time to check in with a doctor when I have those minor issues…
Or so I thought.
I’ve discovered that I CAN actually make time to visit with a doctor, when I have a small issue question or concern. I don’t even have to through my schedule off a bit to do it either. Amwell allows me to visit the doctor from home, right from my computer, laptop, or even my smartphone. While it doesn’t take the place of visiting my primary care physician, it can certainly help me out when I’m in a crunch.
This weekend I’ve been feeling really stuffy. Sinus issues are something I continually struggle with this time of year, and I usually take an over the counter nasal spray. This year, however, is a bit difference since I’m nursing my youngest child. I wanted to be sure that whatever I take is safe for both baby and myself.
I chatted with a doctor on Amwell, who helped me find a medication to help with my congestion, that’s also safe during nursing. The first provider I selected had a patient before me, so I was offered the option to choose a different provider instead with a shorter wait time. entire process took less than 30 minutes, and I was able to do it while the children napped.
My prescription was sent to my local pharmacy, and I picked it up through the drive-thru like I would any other! I never even had to get the kids out of the car, and didn’t miss a beat in my daily routine. Thanks to Amwell, I will no longer be neglecting to speak to a doctor for myself, in an effort to preserve time. I can take much better care of myself, so that I can be the best I can be for the rest of my family!
The cost of Amwell is very affordable, at only $49. I urge you to give it a try yourself, for free! You can visit the doctor from home by simply clicking this link to access Amwell, then use the promo code “CARENOW1” when prompted to pay (see photo below).
It’s easy to let yourself go when focusing on the rest of your family, but the keeping yourself in great shape will help them so much more in the long run!
