Easter (and every other holiday, for that matter) has been traditional in my family for as long as I can remember. Some years we went to church, and other years we practiced religion at home. Either way, Easter always included an Easter egg hunt, pretty dresses with big bows, huge elaborate baskets, and a meal comparable to Thanksgiving dinner. Until this year, that is. This year Cyanne had a cheer competition in Branson, MO (they got first place, by the way!) making it our very first Easter away from home.I have a strong suspicion it won’t be our last!!
One thing we were concerned about was the budget….with cheerleading fees and other expenses, could we afford to turn this trip into a real family vacation? It seemed a bit silly to make the 4 hour trip, if I couldn’t share with my family all the fun that Branson has to offer. Luckily for us, Branson turned out to be a GREAT place for vacations on a budget! The attractions we visited:
This show was simply amazing! My entire entourage (Husband, Grandma, Baby Caelyn, 4 year old Cyanne and I) had our eyes glued to the stage the entire time. The movements and routines of the performers were surreal! We all agreed that our favorite act was the 11 and 12 year old boys who are Olympic gold medalist in acrobatic gymnastics! Cyanne was stoked about this the most as she has serious ambitions of being an Olympic gold medalist like her idol, Gabrielle Douglas. After the show, all the performers come out for a chance to take photos and shake hands. You can bet your bottom dollar she zeroed in on them faster than….I dunno but it was really fast!!!
If you go to Branson, you MUST visit Branson’s Wild World. I expected to see a few exotic animals here and there, and perhaps a petting zoo. Boy, was I wrong! My family and I were transported into a full on world of excitement and wonder! A staff member guided us throughout the facility, and we were amazed. There’s so many animals and cool features we spend about 2 hours and no one in our group lost interest! Everything was interactive and it was easy to tell that the staff shared a genuine passion for these animals. Like they were all family. Stay tuned for a full review!
To visit the Titanic Museum we had to leave Branson and travel back in time to 1912 when the Titanic set sail! Not only do they have automated messages throughout the museum for you to listen to as you walk around, they actually have an additional automated tour that is target specifically to the children! We were left amazed by some of the things we learned, and it was both heartbreaking and awe inspiring to read about the plights of the passengers on the Titanic. This event was entirely to large to highlight here, so stay read my full review here.
I I was was excited to take my family to see Ripley’s Believe it Or Not, since I had the opportunity to visit it years ago. Boy, was I in for a surprise. The displays have been updated, and there have been many unique features added! I felt like it was my first time all over again, and my entourage was certainly not disappointed. I’ll tell you all about it in the my full review!
provides 4 fun features:
Hollywood Wax, Museum Castle of Chaos, Hannah’s Maze Of Mirrors, and Shoot for the Stars Mini Golf
We had the pleasure of experiencing each of these four features during our trip to Branson. There was so much to tell about each feature, that will need it’s own post as well. Luckily, the Hollywood Entertainment is allowing me to host a giveaway featuring FREE combination tickets to all 4 of their attractions! Stay tuned for a follow up post! Overall, I have to admit this Unorthodox Easter in Branson, MO was one of the best holidays my family has experienced yet.
While we still took time to sit the girls down and explain the TRUE meaning of the Holiday and they still got Easter baskets and all that jazz, we got to focus more on spending time together than usual. It isn’t always easy for working parents to take a holiday, especially when you have small children. When you do get a chance to have a family holiday, you usually have to sacrifice real fun for the parents, for the sake of child friendly activities. In Branson, MO, however, you can truly have it ALL! I’ll be elaborating on each of the attractions in Branson more over the next couple of weeks, and including even more awesome photos! Stay tuned!
