As the holidays approach, it seems as if my list of things to do grows longer and the days grow shorter. There’s simply not enough time to get to each and everything that I want and need to accomplish. Prioritizing my list of things to do is actually the simplest part of it. It generally comes down to putting everything that has to do with the children and my family at the top of the list… and everything else (including things I need to do for myself) way down at the bottom in the fine print.
This year has taught me to take a much different look at my list, however. I realized that in order to take care of my family to the best of my ability, it’s imperative that I take care of myself. Nothing drives that lesson closer to home than an unexpected health issue, and I found myself facing that reality right at the peak of the holidays this year. As much as I wanted to continue to push and push to get things done, I had no choice but to take a break and rest up. It was both a humbling and frustrating experience.
One thing that gave me peace of mind, however, was the fact that I did not have to worry about whether or not I’d be covered by my health insurance plan. Despite being busy and having a lot on our plate, my Husband and I have always made it a priority to fully research and understand the health insurance plan that we choose for our family.
I can’t stress enough how important health insurance is both for your own peace of mind during an unexpected event, as well as for your financial future. The downside is that navigating health insurance and the healthcare system can be really confusing. Many people have no clue what their health care plan entails until they need to utilize it. Check out the facts in the infographic below!
The thing about navigating through health insurance is, you don’t have to go at it alone. Health insurers like Anthem and Application Assistors, Navigators, and brokers in your local communities understand how busy you are, and how important your family’s health is to you. They’ve made resources available to help you better understand your options and navigate your options during open enrollment season. This makes it easier than ever to find the health insurance plan that’s right for you and your family’s unique needs.
As you prioritize your list of to-do items this holiday season, be sure to add going over your healthcare options in preparation for open enrollment to the top of your list. Begin by visiting NavigatingOpenEnrollment.com, or by visiting HealthCare.gov.
