Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2018 is here, and it’s proven to be just as amazing as previous years! This is a day our family loves celebrating, and it’s our third year participating here on MrsWrightWrites!
This year we were even more excited since we are in our very first year of homeschooling. This educational structure change has allowed us to branch outside of the norm and explores the world in a whole new way! Our Multicultural Children’s Book Day (MCBD) assignments granted us even more resources to use in this journey of knowledge we’ve embarked on. Check out our reviews and more details about Multicultural Children’s Book Day below! Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2018 Reviews
The first book we reviewed for MCBD 2018 is On your Mark, Set, Go! by Alva Sachs and Three Wishes Publishing. What starts out to be a rough weekend for three boys, turns out to be an excellent adventure and bonding experience with their Dad’s! This fun and colorful book is a great read, and really drove home the idea of teaming together as a community to make a positive experience! Alva Sachs has written several children’s books that embrace culture and diversity!
The second book in our feature this year is The Elephant and the King by Sylvia M. Medina and the Green Kids Club. The setting of the book is Africa, and it entails a group of children who come upon a captured elephant in the forest. Their Green Kids Club experience in environmental awareness leads them to courageous and heroic acts; along with an amazingly exciting adventure!

What is Multicultural Children’s Book Day?
Multicultural Children’s Book Day 2018 (1/27/18) is in its 5th year and was founded by Valarie Budayr from Jump Into A Book and Mia Wenjen from PragmaticMom. Our mission is to raise awareness of the ongoing need to include kids’ books that celebrate diversity in home and school bookshelves while also working diligently to get more of these types of books into the hands of young readers, parents and educators.
