Free Family Friendly Attractions In Wichita, KS
There are tons of free things you can do around Wichita that you and your family will LOVE! Those were some of our best moments on the trip. We saw the Ring of Fire lighting at the Keeper of the Plains and it was such an incredibly breathtaking moment. They light it 7 days a week for 9pm for only 15 minutes. If you go during the winter, the lighting starts at 7pm. Not only is the walk up beautiful, relaxing, and extremely artistic… the actual lighting is a magical moment.
Growing up in Wichita, playing at the park was one of our favorite past times. Riverside Park is just across the street from the Keeper of the Plains, and it’s a wonderful place to sit and grab a picnic. Not only is there an awesome and safe playground for the kids to enjoy, they can have fun checking out some of the animals in the exhibits as well.
For even more adventure, make sure to check out O.J. Watson Park while you’re there. It’s a large outdoor park that sits on a lake! In addition to fishing or riding paddle boats, you can also a miniature train or a pony, or play a round of miniature golf (small fees apply to some attractions, but park entry is free). This park host 100 picnic tables that are first come first serve, making it a great place to have a cookout.
