Fun Family Friendly Attractions in Wichita, Kansas
There are so many amazing places to take the kids, if you’re looking to have an amazing time in Wichita, KS! At the Exploration Place, we learned and played in equal portions! We saw animals, built with blocks, learned about airplanes and even tried out a very lifelike flight simulation! One of the kid’s favorites was the Dinosaurs in Motion exhibit, which gave us an up close and personal view of these gigantic creatures!

Speaking of up close and personal…. did I mention that my family and I hung out with Kangaroos WITHOUT a gate to separate us! That’s right… Tanganyika Wildlife Park lets you experience animals in a completely brand new way! It was amazing! We fed lemurs, giraffes, tortoises, bunny rabbits, hippos, and viewed a huge assortment of amazing animals! I strongly recommend dedicating lots of time to view the park during your visit, as our girls didn’t want to leave when it was time to go! The food court area is a great place to grab a bite to eat during your visit, and they even have pulled pork sandwiches from the amazing Delano’s BBQ restaurant mentioned above!

Children are often riled up after an eventful day and could use some space to unwind and be wild and crazy. Urban Air Trampoline Park is the perfect place for this! Here kids of all ages (including the grown up ones) can have a ball jumping on the many trampolines! There’s a special area just for the younger kids, and there are even dodgeball and basketball zones! This a VERY fun place to hang out, and we were all ready for a good night’s sleep once we spend time jumping.
Why not sneak in a quick history lesson while vacationing? Cowtown museum provides a historical adventure that is truly one of a kind. You’ll enjoy walking the dirt roads that transport you right into a real-life replica of a town from the 1865-1880 time frame! We had fun looking through houses and seeing how greatly living conditions have changed since those times. With over 10,000 artifacts in this permanent collection, there’re lots to see and enjoy! Allow at least 1.5 hours when visiting!

If you’re traveling during the warmer months, cooling off is a must. You can do so at River Rock Rapids located just outside of Wichita in nearby Derby. Unfortunately, the unfavorable weather kept us from taking advantage of the many slides, lazy pools, and other fun outdoor water activities during our visit. This destination will certainly be first on our list during our next visit.
