Everyone’s been boasting about the opening of the new Ikea store in Merriam, KS. To be quite honest with you, I was baffled as to what all the hype is all about. It’s just a furniture store, right? Needless to say, I had never been to an Ikea store before, so I had NO idea what it was all about.
That all changed when I was invited to attend the press preview at Ikea, in anticipation for the grand opening of the 40th Ikea store! Boy, was I in for a treat!
I began getting excited as I spotted the can’t miss blue and yellow building right of of Johnson Dr on Ikea Way. The clearly labeled building made it easy to spot out the entrance, and the parking garage (which was still in construction mode at the time of my visit) looks like it will offer ample parking for all of Ikea’s patrons.
As I quickly learned is Ikea’s fashion, the meal served was classy and well put together. I tried many new things that I hand’t before, including caviar on a boiled egg and a special mustard sauce for the salmon that was delicious! I highly regret not grabbing some of Ikea’s world renowned swedish meatballs when I had the chance. I had to hustle though, because I didn’t want to miss a single moment of my group tour!
And I’m soo glad I didn’t!
To say the facilities were amazing would be an unfair understatement. From the marketing concept, lighting, design, and consumer friendliness, everything exceeded expectations. Not to mention Ikea has gone above and beyond with multiple play stations and even a highly secure in store child care for parents wanting to shop without towing their children through the store (children do need to be potty trained and meet certain heigh requirements).
I won’t spoil all the surprises for you, if you’re planning on visiting. I do, however, want to make sure you’re aware of all the awesome incentives available in relation to the opening of the store!
