Fall is finally here! I’m excited about that, because it’s my all-time favorite time of year. The colors changing remind me that change is a constant part of life. We must be resilient in order to keep up with the constant changes of life. The falling leaves remind me that sometimes it is necessary to let go of the old, in order to be renewed. For me, fall has plenty of reminders about faith.
We spend so much time redecorating our homes for the season. We take inventory of and rearrange the clothes in the closet in order to make room for the heavier fall and winter ensembles. Through all of our planning, however, how often do we take the time to take an honest inventory of our faith, and rearrange when necessary?
Here are a few ways I’m giving myself a Fall Faith Lift!
Set Prayer Goals
“ And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18
Lately I’ve found myself lacking in my daily conversations with God. I have found that when life gets busy, as it so often does, my prayers feel rushed and less genuine. I am setting a goal to set aside some time to give Christ my undivided attention. I want to get back to having those honest and heartfelt conversations with him, that he desires.
I love the home decor from Family Christian, and use it as a way to remind myself of this goal.
“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.” Romans 15:13
Praying is only one part of the journey. After my prayer time, I know that I need to let God work his magic. I mentioned in my community group bible study recently that I often find myself having “faith” with a backup plan.
The thing is, you don’t need a backup plan when you have God. I need to get over my own pride in thinking I need to figure out every situation, and instead let God do what he does best… work miracles.
Put on the Armor of God
“Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:10-11
Of course the armour of God is not meant as a literal psychical armour. I find having little reminders, like a piece of jewelry, however can help remind us of our commitment and faith in times when we need a little boost.
These pieces can also be a great conversation piece, allowing you to share your faith in a situation where you otherwise may have not. This is a great reminder for your fall faith lift.
