Summer raises the bar of being a work at home mom to a whole new level. I find myself dedicating much more time during the day to the girls, while my nights are spent working. While I love and appreciate the time that I am able to spend with them during the night, it makes getting things done a bit more complicated. While not impossible to get things accomplished, I have to be a little creative when arranging my normal duties to include a 5 year old and 10 month old.
Luckily Doctor On Demand had people just like me in mind!
I’ve had sinus issues since I was a little girl, and generally each summer I need some type of nasal spray. Last summer I was in my last trimester of pregnancy, and opted to tuff it out with herbal remedies. This summer, I’m doing the same. Not so much by choice, but more so due to the fact that dragging two young kids to the doctor is less than desirable. Doctor On Demand solved this problem for me by putting me face to face with a licensed general practitioner within seconds, straight from my iPhone! I entered in a small amount of information from my phone, prior to connecting. Much less than what I usually fill out in the doctors office by hand, and it seemed so much quicker just clicking from my phone. Plus, the doctor actually reviewed my responses before connecting with me, so there wasn’t any of that annoying repetition going on that even modern technology can’t seem to eliminate from traditional Dr. appointments.
The doctor and I chatted about my symptoms and he gave me options on sinus solutions to help ease my problems. We decided on a prescription nasal spray, and the Dr. entered my prescription in right while I was on the phone and it was sent to my local pharmacy.
I didn’t really have anything to show the doctor, since there wasn’t a rash or anything. I still played around with the pictures while he was entering my prescription in. It was extremely user friendly.
Within minutes of ending the call, I received follow up on my visit as well as my prescription! The girls and I drove through the pickup pharmacy while out and about and the entire process never caused me to have to lug them out of the car into a single place. I am personally super impressed with the app, and recommend it to readers. While it isn’t a permanent solution to traditional physician visits, it helps save time tremendously when you’re busy like me. I get an entire month to try out my prescription, plus I have the non-prescription suggestion the Dr. provided me as well. I’ll have time to follow up with my primary physician if I have further questions or issues.

Doctor On Demand only cost $40 per visit (the same as most hospital co-pays). I’ll be using my families flex spending account to cover these in the future, just as I do for appointments now.
