I wasn’t going to post today.
I have wayy too much to do.Homework (yes, I’m in school… again).
Work, work (In addition to running my business as usual, I’ve decided to take on a few hours a week at my local Title Boxing Club as well).
Then there are the various other things I could be doing as a mom with two small children at home.
I didn’t want to miss this opportunity to speak about Thankful Thursday though! A week from today is Thanksgiving and I couldn’t’ be more excited. It’s really got me thinking and reflecting on how far I’ve come in the last year. I must admit, I’m pretty proud. A little over a year ago I took a leap on faith and decided to start my own business. Today, I’m proud to say that the income I’m bringing in is more than enough to justify not working for someone else full-time any longer, and I have the added pleasure of being able to be at home and watch my babies grow. I’ve gotten the chance to go eat lunch with my 5-year-old, on a whim. When baby is fussy from teething I re-arrange my schedule to sit and rock her (sometimes for hours) until she’s feeling better.
Everyone has different things that work for them, and this is working for me!
Another thing I picked up was training at Title Boxing. Troy got me a membership last February for my birthday, and I immediately feel in love. Where I started at physically back then, and where I am at now is a DRASTIC improvement. I feel pretty great about it. Then, this month, even more changes came. I finally made the plunge and decided to go back to college. I’m a lifetime student, I believe. I joke that learning is my hobby… but I’m pretty serious at the same time. It makes me happy. It’s what I like to do. So…I did it. I also decided to pick up a few hours each week working at Title. This is probably one of the best decisions I’ve made. While I love being at home with my little one, it’s also nice to have a few hours of adult time as well. She seems to enjoy socializing with the other kids at the daycare those two days a week also.
When you run a business, especially from home, it’s important to find something you love to do OUTSIDE the home. It can be a hobby, a part time job… whatever. My hobby and part-time job just happens to be at the same spot. Lucky, I am. Home away from home! #Title #titleboxing #mma #boxing #kickboxing #train #fitness
Right now I’m writing this from my tablet as I sit at Starbucks drinking my second coffee refill in the 1.5 hours I’ve been here. Something I wasn’t able to do a month ago, unless I wanted to endure dragging the one year old along. I have about 20 minutes until my shift at Title starts, and I usually even get a workout in while I’m there.
What’s the point of me writing this?
Because someone reading is feeling discouraged, and possibly too guilty to pursue a dream that would make THEM happy.
Somewhere a mom is soo engrossed in raising her children, that she is putting aside something she’d like to do, and probably telling herself she’ll just come back to it later.
If that’s you, I’m here to tell you that you don’t have to choose.
You can do it all!
It make take some juggling, and it may complicate things at times.
You may have to swallow your pride and ask for help from friends, family, or your spouse.
At the end of the day, I can’t promise you that it’ll be easy.
But guess what?
