Today marks the official first day of fall! To say that I am excited would be a major understatement. Fall is one of my ultimate favorite times of the year. It marks the beginning of the holiday season, and all of the many fun things that come with it. It’s also that time of year when it’s not to cold to play outside just yet, but you don’t have the constant scorching heat that is associated with summers here in the midwest.
Growing up, that meant lots of outdoors time around this time of year! Many of my days were spend playing with neighborhood children, and several weekends were spent roasting marshmallows or hot dogs around a bonfire with my loved ones.
Mmm…. the fall food!
I’ve always associated this season with two smells//taste in particular: pumpkins and apples. It seems that everywhere you look their are seasonal flavors of cinnamon spice, apple cider and pumpkin spice being advertised!
They even transition over to the entertainment aspect of the season!
Picking apples at an apple orchard is a really fun fall event. Pumpkin patches are also a super fun fall event that is tradition in our family! Since I was pregnant the entire summer, the girls and I missed out on a lot of fun events that season. Because of that, I’m even more excited to make the fall even more adventurous than ever! I want to get out and about and make up for my lack of “zeal” over the last few months!
Of course, an adventure is best when you’re properly prepared (and nourished).
