If there are two things we love in Kansas City, it’s BBQ and sports games. Pair them together, and you’ve created the recipe for a perfect Kansas City Outing. We partnered with Phillips 66 to attend the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship, and they nailed it. From the family-friendly activities to the upbeat spirited atmosphere on the inside, this was the most fun sporting event I’ve been too in quite some time.
Before heading into the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship, we dropped into the spectator warm-up section (aka the Slamulator™), where we freshened up on our ball skills a bit before we headed in. Former KU player Drew Gooden hung out with us and demonstrated how it was done.
The fact that we hadn’t played in a while didn’t make a difference. They sprinkled a little magic on our videos, and… wah-lah! “Natural” talent 😉

Live to The Full With Phillips 66
After the games, I had a few friends and family ask me what my favorite part of Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship was. This is always the case after we attend events, but this was the first time I didn’t really have an answer. It’s really an unexplainable kind of feeling, and my husband and the girls all agreed.
The games were fun to watch, of course, but the experience overall was so much more. From the moment you exit the highway downtown and see the people walking to Sprint Center with all of their sports attire, you can FEEL the energy! That’s what Phillips 66 new tag line “Live to the Full” is truly about. They believe that the gas pump is simply a launch pad to you and your family’s next destination! I agree.
We really had a great time experiencing the Phillips 66 Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship at Sprint Center, and look forward to attending in the future. If you ever have an opportunity to attend yourself, I’d highly recommended. Regardless of what game you catch, you’re guaranteed to have a good time. You don’t need to be a basketball enthusiast to enjoy, either. Phillips 66 makes the Big 12 Men’s Basketball Championship much more than basketball. They create an opportunity for lifelong family memories, and experiences you won’t soon forget.
