The American Girl Outing to the Nutcracker Tea Party is an experience my family won’t soon forget. The play The Nutcracker brings to mind fond memories of my youth. I loved going to the ballet either on a field trip and gaining the full ballet experience. I was memorized from beginning to end. Thanks to our friends at American Girl, I had the opportunity to witness my own daughters share the looks of amazement and awe that I did at their age. The excited for them was amplified ten fold due to the fact that their American Girl dolls got to accompany us… and even Dad got to come along! This was a tea party that topped all others!
American Girl OutingThe Nutcracker Tea Party with Pre-Party
The first thing every princess does before a party is to get fancy, of course. The Nutcracker Tea Party wasn’t any different. We met up at the American Girl store, where the girls checked their dolls in at the salon. While the stylist recognized Cyanne and Melody from our visit previous American Girl outing to the Kansas City Royal’s baseball game, this was Caelyn’s very first visit to the American Girl store. Needless to say, she spent our first several moments standing in the middle of the store taking in the amazement that comes with a little girl’s first visit. The store was absolutely magical, lit with Christmas decorations that were whimsical in nature.
While the dolls were getting dolled up, we made some new friends and enjoyed a story with them on the reading carpet right in front of the Chrismas Tree. The girls all looked so nice, and their dolls did as well. We listened to the story of The Nutcracker, of course, before grabbing the dolls from the salon (tiaras perfectly in place, of course), and headed over to the performance at the nearby Ritz Charles.
The event was so well done and perfectly decorated, the girls were in awe.
Thanks to American Girl, our girls were special VIP guests and they all had the opportunity to take photos with the class of the ballet (students of the Crenshaw School of Dance) before the other guests to the event began arriving.
Once we made our way to the beautifully decorated tables, the girls we enjoyed finger foods and mingled with the cast for a bit until the show began.
After an American Girl doll giveaway, the girls were escorted sit on the floor up front and watch the show while us parents (and younger kiddos) enjoyed from the tables. The show was beautiful, and the 1-hour timeframe fit the girl’s attention spans perfectly. They were so excited to see the show and take home their American Girl goodie bags afterward. I think it’ll definitely go down in history as one of our favorite Christmas time experiences yet, only to be trumped by our next American Girl adventure.
I love the way our store is so personal, they make us feel like we’re part of the family… and we are. American Girl works hard to make every single girl feel special. The way that they treat the dolls so well, teaches girls to do the same.
American Girl dolls are the gift that keeps on giving. I’m alway about having more experiences than stuff. It’s a blessing to find a company that can not only provide opportunities for outings like this but also pile all of that magic right on top of the experience!
