So, I haven’t written in awhile. Not for lack of interest, but more for lack of time. That’s about to change however, in the upcoming week. I recently agreed to participate in my first bloggers challenge! The challenge is to blog at least two blogs a week for a month. Not sure how long I’ll last in it, BUT let’s see.
From what I see on the blogger thread, I think the goal is to theme each blog post with a letter, chronologically. So here’ s A. This week, A is for action. That was definitely my key word of 2013!
Action. A word that is talked about much more than it is executed. I put meaning behind this word this year. Early on in the year, I learned I was pregnant with my second child. I loved that I worked from home and was able to work right up to the last bit of my pregnancy. After the baby got here, however, I learned just how much I valued flexibility.
I did my best work at night, while the rest of my house slept, and my husband was around to provide back up and a little much needed relief. During this time, I began picking up freelance clients left and right. Problem was, I’d stay up all night working and then put in a days work after. That’s what prompted the idea of merging both of my worlds into one, and becoming an entrepreneur in the meantime.
Action. While the idea was good, the action is what matters. My daughter was born in early September. By the end of the month, I had ran my idea past a few friends and close family. Early October I ran it by my employer, who agreed it was a good idea and also agreed to be my first client! By the end of October my business was rocking and rolling. Registered with the Secretary of State, website designed, business cards ordered, business plan created, and invoicing system set up and being put to it’s proper use.
That’s why my word of the week is Action. Because an idea, is just an idea, without an action accompanying it.
Stay tuned for the second in this week soon!
