Once my children and I decided to start a garden, I immediately began dreaming up what delicious concoctions we’d be able to make with our harvest. One of the first things that popped in my mind, was mint. Not only does it smell amazing, there are so many awesome recipes that can be made with it. Luckily, our little garden shot off and we now have plenty of fresh mint to use for our creations! One of our favorites happens to be a delicious mint float! Not only is it tasty, it’s a great way to cool off and refresh during these super hot summer days! Don’t have any mint in your own garden? Don’t worry! Grab some in the produce section of your local grocery store, and get to work! Follow the simple recipe below, and you’re in for an amazing treat!
How to Make An Amazing Mint Float
Chop up your mint finely, and mix it in a saucepan with lemon juice, water, and sugar. Stir this mixture at let it simmer at medium heat until all of the sugar has dissolved. I absolutely love the way the chopped mint adds a nice and fresh aroma to your home as it cooks!
Once the sugar is dissolved, you’ll want to refrigerate the mixture until it has completely cooled off.
Once your mixture is all cooled off, pour it into a glass with club soda and cooled lemon juice. It’s fun to try out different types of mint when making this recipe. I really like the way it tastes when you use chocolate mint, and there are so many different flavors and varieties of mint. Use whichever one appeals to your taste buds!
Now that you’ve poured your mixture into the glass, top with a healthy scoop of ice cream or frozen yogurt. I prefer to use lemon or lime sherbet when making mine! Garnish with a few sprigs of mint.
Enjoy your drink on the patio on a nice day, and you’ll feel as if you’ve been transported to your own tropical oasis! It’s also a really great punch style alternative you can serve during your next get together!
